Hluboká Castle is situated on a hill above Vltava in the town of Hluboká nad Vltavou about 15 km north of České Budějovice. It is open to the public and is one of the most attractive tourist attractions in the Czech Republic. The castle is owned by the state and is administered by the National Heritage Institute. The former castle riding hall houses the Aleš South Bohemian Gallery, which manages a collection of sculptures and paintings by Dutch and Flemish painters from the 17th and 18th centuries.
The Hluboká Chateau, with its area, character, set of preserved original furniture and a large park, is an important romantic area in the European and world context.
